LESSON ONE
The students are given several statements about teen dating violence and domestic violence. This lesson is focused on opening the conversation around healthy vs. unhealthy relationships.
LESSON 1- FORMS OF TEEN DATING VIOLENCE
Below are a few examples of the types of questions that we ask the students. Many people do not realize that domestic violence encompasses so much more than physical abuse. These questions are meant to evoke a critical thinking response in the students.
Teen Dating Violence can only occur in a male / female relationship
It is okay to keep tabs on my partner
Domestic Violence can only occur if you’re in an adult relationship
It’s okay that my partner and I push each other sometimes
Its okay to call my partner names if I am joking
My partner should spend more time with me instead of going to church
It is okay to ask my partner to quit a sport
I tell me partner when they are being too emotional
Sometimes I criticize my partner to get a laugh
It’s okay to physically hurt your partner if you’re the same sex
